The Last Ship

by Sting

Produced by Karl Sydow

Sting’s The Last Ship, inspired by his 1991 album “The Soul Cages” and his own childhood experiences, tells the story of a community amid the demise of the shipbuilding industry in Tyne and Wear. This production began at Northern Stage in Newcastle in 2018 before embarking on a UK tour and Toronto season starring Sting in the lead role of the shipyard foreman in 2019. The show opened in Los Angeles in January 2020 as the start of a 4 month US tour which was unfortunately postponed due to the pandemic.
