For sixteen years between 1986 and 2001 he produced Mobil Touring Theatre, the longest–running arts sponsorship in the UK, directing many productions himself. As director his credits also include nineteen medieval madrigal comedies with the choral group I Fagiolini, performances of the Ludus Danielis at the Proms, Monteverdi's L'Orfeo conducted by Jane Glover, and the West End production of Dial M for Murder.
PW Productions has produced or co–produced nearly fifty West End productions, and has been General Manager for The Touring Partnership, Matthew Bourne's New Adventures, and has been the Production Accountant for many other producers.
Also, since 1992, Peter has been Chief Executive of Norwich Theatre Royal, a 1,300–seat lyric theatre in East Anglia, which has hosted, among nearly 1,200 presentations, the Norwegian National Opera's Ring Cycle and Peter Hall's Tantalus.
He was appointed MBE in 2000, is Chair of the Cultural Sector Group of Norfolk's Shaping the Future Strategy, vice-chair of the Norfolk Arts Forum, a board member of the Theatre Investment Fund, and was until recently a board member of Arts Council England East.
